Google is getting better at understanding human language, but their crawlers are still robots. HTML tags are still essential for communicating the thematic relevance of your pages to users search query .
On most pages, meta tags not the most efficient optimization. Surname:

- Not adjusting the meta description enough to attract users.
- Failing to use title tags strategically, using semantically related terms.
But that's not a big deal. Google is less dependent on those standard HTML tags to understand the content of the page.
Google has a harder time understanding which pages on your site are most valuable or important. And you don't use advanced HTML tags that can help them.
Here's how to fix that:
- Relative standard page : This tag means that Google will not spend its limit crawling time indexing redundant pages.
- Noindex and nofollow : Tags require Google to move – so it doesn't waste time indexing pages you consider less valuable. Their inclusion will direct Google to your important pages – those with strong ratings or conversion potential. Those are the pages you want Google's crawlers to index.
- Schema.org markup: Schema.org is a shared structured vocabulary. Using it makes it easier for Google to extract data from your pages and display them more prominently in the SERPs.

Google doesn't like that. Let's do it the right way, although it may take more resources:
- Identify high domain authority sites where links to your content will be relevant.
- Create an outreach program that secures those links. ( Guest blogging might be a good way to do this.)
- Think about anchor text when linking to your pages.
5. Internal competition
A strong on-page and off-page strategy may not be enough. Your pages may also not be able to rank because they are competing with other pages on your site. This is known as the “cannibal keyword”. Faced with similar pages, Google crawlers cannot determine the most important or relevant page.
