Yesterday, Google announced core update 2021 11. While there's nothing new about these periodic algorithm changes, many SEOs are wondering why Google decided to release it just before one of its purchase dates. busiest shopping of the year.
Holiday shopping season. The weeks that include Black Friday and Cyber Monday have added extra pressure on businesses looking to meet customer demand and their revenue projections. Throwing a core update into the mix can make this even more complicated. This has led some SEOs to wonder if Google has lost touch with both the business and search communities.
The response of the SEO community. Many in the search community are questioning Google's timing on this update. Several marketers responded to Liason Danny Sullivan's explanation on Google Search, including SEO Rich Missey, who identified possible problems with business stakeholders.
Possibly another point of view: While I, as an SEO, am not “fazed” by updates (usually), senior stakeholders can see the word “Updates” and have a question.

Bad times for AKA.

Sarah Blocksidge of Sixth City Marketing pointed out that, although the core update happened around the same time last year, its timing is a bit more reasonable.
well, they did the same thing around this time last year but at least after Black Friday https://t.co/VYypG5bHpj

But other experts, such as Barry Adams of Polemic Digital, take a more skeptical view of the update (and all of Google's core updates).
Because they don't care and they have an undue level of confidence (some might call it arrogance) in their algorithms. https://t.co/LbiRPEveQa

Google's John Mueller also decided to join these conversations, asking SEOs how and when they'd like the company to announce these changes.
I'm curious – do you want us to just cover them later, or not? I realize that there is an aspect of “never changing anything”, but good things also come with updates. (not grumpy, honestly wondering what your thoughts are, feel free to DM if you like)

Why do we care. Businesses that have made changes to employees and inventory in preparation for the holiday shopping season may experience issues depending on the impact of the update. It is important for SEOs to identify when these ranking changes occur so they can notify stakeholders and prepare to adjust their strategy. The effects could continue until the end of November, so be prepared for a decrease or increase search visibility .
