Every year, higher education faces the challenge of recruiting a new generation. For the past few years, it's been millennials. This time, it's Generation Z.
Gen Z and Millennials are different and it's not only side part and tight jeans . Generation Z sees money, brands, and authenticity differently and asks brands to share their ideals and create less polished content.
With this change, Higher Ed will have to rethink campus photography and talking head videos. Instead, marcomm groups will have to find opportunities to show students in real-life situations, talk about real-life problems, and share real-life experiences.

What is TikTok?
TikTok is “the destination for short-form mobile videos.” It's like YouTube, except it's vertical and small in size.

According to the list of universities running on TikTok, Higher Ed organizations are using the platform in hopes of connecting with GenZ by raising awareness and “connecting and interacting with Generation Z audiences in a way that is fun and easy to understand. ”
No wonder universities are paying attention. 41% of TikTok Users are between 16 and 24 – age, base demographic for Taller Ed.
