Clamshell phones are a popular design these days. Tech giants like Samsung, Motorola, and Huawei have all stepped into the competition to design phones with this design. No exception, Xiaomi has recently applied for a new patent for its clamshell screen smartphone.
It can be seen that clamshell smartphones are currently the most prominent design in the market with the lead being the Galaxy Z Flip3 from Samsung. Motorola is also not out of the game when it launches two impressive smartphones called Razr 2019 and Razr 5G. Even Huawei recently launched the P50 Pocket product.

Previously, Xiaomi dipped its foot into this folding screen smartphone market with the Mi MIX Fold and was only launched in China. Recently, some information has revealed that Xiaomi has completed a patent application at the National Intellectual Property Administration of China (CNIPA). This shows that Xiaomi is planning a new foldable smartphone version.
According to the design from Xiaomi’s drawing board, this new Xiaomi phone is designed with the ability to fold the screen inside. The design has a large hole for two cameras on the front and back, similar to Huawei’s P40 series. Xiaomi took inspiration from the Galaxy Z Flip with two cameras placed next to the secondary screen.
