The world is about to enter 2022, Charles Hoskinson, founder of IOHK – the blockchain company behind Cardano – shared some development goals for Cardano for the new year.
Specifically, in a recent livestream, Charles Hoskinson shared details about the upcoming development roadmap of the company. Cardano (ADA), and also summarizes the market for the past 12 months.

Hoskinson reflected on the growth of Cardano and the entire crypto industry. He mentioned revolution NFT and the Decentralized Finance boom (DeFi) and how hackers are targeting DeFi projects, resulting in more than $10.5 billion in losses in 2021 alone.
Stated Regarding Cardano's achievements this year, Hoskinson noted that over "two million assets" have been issued on Cardano, most of which are NFTs.
He added that more than 127 projects are currently writing code to build decentralized applications (dApps) on the Cardano network, of which about 20 to 30 projects will be launched within the next three months.
Cardano’s Goals for 2022
According to Charles Hoskinson, there are two main Cardano plans for 2022 including:
- Build project support organizations, attract more developers to run projects on Blockchain Cardano
- Launch of the open source Cardano architecture, increasing the connectivity of Cardano
In addition to the above two plans, Hoskinson said that there is still a lot of work to do, many very interesting projects on Cardano that will be introduced in 2022.
"Next year, Cardano will change, many plans will be implemented. A full-fledged open source project structure will be formed, like Hyperledger for Linux. We will see more organizations connected to Cardano and everyone who is currently working on Cardano will be featured, myself included," he said.
Expansion to Africa
Africa has always been part of Cardano’s strategy, and in 2022, Cardano will expand its footprint in the continent.
With many countries in Africa still lacking financial inclusion, Hoskinson revealed that the Cardano Foundation is planning to “build a financial regulatory system” by Q2 2022 to make it available to the people of Asia. Free access to DeFi services.
"My goal for the second half of 2022 is to figure out how to put all the pieces together to get an end-to-end microfinance transaction on Cardano. I want Cardano to be the payment rail. Peer-to-peer (p2p), person to person, click a button, money will be sent to the other side, simple and fast," Hoskinson said.
Recalling Cardano’s long-term goals, Hoskinson noted that “All it takes to take Cardano to the next level, we’ve got it all done, now it’s just a matter of implementation.”
