So checkra1n 0.9.8 beta has released support for Linux , because it supports Linux, so this article I will guide you how to run checkra1n on Windows computers through the use of Ubuntu .
Prepare:
- Minimum USB 4GB.
- Download Ubuntu Desktop ISO file here .
- Rufus to burn ISO file to USB download here .
- Windows computer.
Perform:
Step 1 : Use Rufus to create Ubuntu installation USB .
This is quite easy, you can refer to the article here .
Step 2 : Launch Ubuntu .
Proceed to restart your computer, choose boot to USB where you just created the first USB installation file.
Now there will be a few options for you to choose from, you always choose * Try Ubuntu without installing to run Ubuntu always instead of having to install.
Step 3 : Connect to the network.
If you use a laptop using wifi, click on the Menu icon in the lower left corner of the screen, then navigate to Settings and connect to wifi to download checkra1n .
Step 4 : Download checkra1n (you choose one of two ways: CLI or GUI ).
B4.1 : Using CLI .
After connecting to wifi, open Firefox and access the following link to download checkra1n for Linux: https://checkra.in/releases/#all-downloads
Next, choose Download for Linux (CLI, x86_64) to download checkra1n.
Proceed to copy the file checkra1n to the Desktop .
B4.2 : Using the GUI .
Open up Terminal and run the following commands:
echo "deb https://assets.checkra.in/debian /" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list
sudo apt-key adv --fetch-keys https://assets.checkra.in/debian/archive.key
sudo apt update
sudo apt install checkra1n
After the GUI is installed , click on the menu to see that checkra1n is installed, now you just need to click on the checkra1n icon to use ( Step 5 for CLI )
Step 5 : Run checkra1n .
Click the menu icon in the lower left corner of the screen, type in the search box from Terminal, and launch Terminal .
Run the following commands on the Terminal one by one :
cd ~/Desktop
chmod 777 checkra1n
sudo ./checkra1n
Now follow the steps checkra1n requires to jailbreak your device.
Note : always running Ubuntu on USB can cause jailbreak to fail, you should install dual boot to use.
