If your iPhone or iPad is jailbroken, then you can easily go overboard with installing jailbreak tweaks. Most tweaks make the device better, but there are also problematic tweaks that can be harmful. Some even render the device useless.
Don’t panic if something happens to your device due to a problematic tweak. Recovery is optional, so you don’t have to lose your jailbreak. The unc0ver tool supports a feature that allows you to start the device without downloading any tweaks. That being said, you can safely launch Cydia and uninstall problematic tweaks. Below we will explain how this is done.
What you need to know
This method is only for users with the unc0ver jailbreak. If you have checkra1n jailbreak, then there are instructions for you.
This method works only on devices supported by unc0ver jailbreak. These are devices with iOS 11.0 – iOS 13.5.5 Beta 1 (except 12.3-12.3.2 and 12.4.2-12.4.7 on A7-A8 devices, as well as 13.5.1).
If you meet all the criteria, you can proceed to the instructions.
How to load Safe Mode with unc0ver
1) Force reboot your jailbroken iPhone or iPad if needed.
2) Launch the unc0ver app from the home screen.
3) Click on settings icon in the upper left corner:
4) Uncheck the toggle next to Load Tweaks:
five) Click the button Done in the upper right corner of the screen.
6) Now reinstall the jailbreak by pressing the blue button Jailbreak:
unc0ver will start the installation:
7) When the process is complete, click OK:
When the device boots up, Safe Mode will be active and you can launch Cydia to remove problematic tweaks. After that, as usual, reinstall the unc0ver jailbreak by enabling the option Load Tweaks…
The standard Safe Mode from Cydia will not protect you from all problems. For example, sometimes a device cannot even be unlocked. If so, this guide will help you.
In addition, the whole process does not take much time and does not lead to the loss of the jailbreak.
